AIASCV Chapter Meeting hosted by WIA - Equity For All

About the Event:

The theme ‘Designing Equity for All' was inspired by the National AIA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Commission, the recommended Call to Action Items will be shared with Santa Clara Valley.

The Women in Architecture (WIA) Committee has an exciting initiative, intending to achieve the goal of hosting the National Women’s Leadership Summit in the Bay Area for 2019. As such, WIA is challenging our SCV chapter to be the gold standard in the advancement of equity. Inspired by the AIA's National Call to Action, we will be using the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Report as our framework to begin discussions. To work towards our goal, we must measure where we are and actively work on establishing an equitable and sustainable model.

Let us gather together, men and women, listen to leaders at all levels and learn from each other as our first step.  The April chapter meeting will be the launch of our path towards 2019, followed up by more activity in the September SCV Knowledge Conference. Join us to begin the dialogue, frame our next steps in learning, make an impact and work towards an SCV call to Action.  Come be a part of Designing an Equitable Future.

About the Venue:

The San Jose Woman's Club, one of California's oldest women’s organizations, was established in 1894 as part of a nationwide social movement of women’s clubs that combined self-improvement with voluntary community work. Today, the San Jose Woman's club is no longer a same-sex organization, but it continues to focus on supporting women and the community by maintaining an active calendar of events, providing leadership and mentoring for women, scholarships for local students, funding local and women's charitable organizations, preserving its historic Clubhouse and performing charitable work.
